Airport numbers still soaring
I haven’t heard as much lately about the Medford airport. Does its growth continue to climb?
Rogue Valley International - Medford Airport continues to see elevated passenger numbers.
The airport saw passenger traffic increase by 10 percent from Jan. 1 to April 10, compared to the same time in 2018.
With a recent $500,000 grant from the state’s Department of Aviation, local flight options might also increase. Airport authorities said they are trying to entice airlines to come and provide new air routes.
The Rural Oregon Aviation Relief (ROAR) grant was combined with another $50,000 raised by community businesses to total $550,000 for the airport to leverage as incentive for airlines to choose Medford over other smaller airports.
The Sky House Bar and Grill is expanding by 48 seats, expected to be completed by the end of May, according to an April 10 press release. That will increase its seating capacity by about half, as the restaurant is frequently filled to capacity at peak times, according to the release.
We thought we’d also let you know that the airport is hosting another opportunity to pay to sign up for TSA’s Pre-Check program May 13 to 17. You can find more information at https://bit.ly/2XHDIVX.
