Skydivers, helicopter demos planned for Ashland Airport Day

An all-ages celebration of flight returns to Ashland this weekend.

From drones to helicopters, Ashland Airport Day will celebrate the world of flight from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 1, at Ashland’s Municipal Airport, 403 Dead Indian Memorial Road.

The family-friendly open-house event sponsored by the Ashland Airport Commission will let kids and kids-at-heart get up close to propeller and jet aircraft, and possibly even ride in a plane or fly in a helicopter.

Other highlights include skydivers, smoke jumpers, helicopter rescue, radio-controlled planes, Ashland Robotics Club exhibitions and demonstrations, drones, and a ScienceWorks flight simulator for folks interested in taking to the virtual skies. There also will be other activities designed specifically for kids.

Admission and parking is free, and food trucks will be on site. For more information, call Skinner Aviation at 541-482-7675 or see ashland.or.us.
