Missing family found safe after search

A family who was reported missing Tuesday evening while hiking in the Applegate Valley has been found safe, according to the Jackson County Sheriff's Department.

Medford resident Cameron Cutler, 35, and her three young children — 5-year-old twins and a 4-year-old — had reportedly left Tuesday morning to go hiking on the Tunnel Ridge Trail, located south-southeast of Jacksonville off Little Applegate Road. Cutler's husband called emergency dispatch at 6:12 p.m. when his family had not returned home, according to a sheriff's department news release.

Search and rescue teams were dispatched to the area and checked multiple trailheads in the Applegate and Ruch areas for the family and the silver minivan they'd driven to the area in. "Dozens" of area residents also came to offer help in the search.

As of 1 a.m. Wednesday, the family had been located. Where they were found and additional details on how they got lost were not immediately available. Calls to the sheriff's department Wednesday morning were not immediately returned.
