White City mill fire contained

Only one piece of large equipment was damaged in a two-alarm fire at a Southern Oregon wood products mill.

A fire at the Timber Products Spectrum manufacturing plant was contained to a metal chip bin Friday afternoon, according to Jackson County Fire District No. 3.

The fire drew a two-alarm response to the facility in the 1500 block of Avenue G, sending a five-engine crew to the scene which worked to contain the fire. By about 3:45 p.m., the fire had been successfully contained to the metal bin, but crews remain on scene to ensure the fire doesn’t flare up again.

Responders haven’t closed Avenue G, but ask drivers in the area to use caution.
