Public gets update on new fire station
CENTRAL POINT — Jackson County Fire District No. 3 will give a peek behind the scenes at the ongoing construction on their new Scenic Avenue fire station 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the station, 1909 Scenic Ave., Central Point.
Fire District 3 officials say the station will be open for business in June 2020. This meeting is intended to give the public an update on the project. Anyone can attend.
“It’s just a progress report of what we’re doing,” said Fire District 3 public information officer Ashley Blakely. “What the time frame is like, where we are now, and kind of getting all of our partners together to answer questions and just kind of celebrate the process as moving forward.”
The new station is being built in response to anticipated growth in the city over the next two decades.
“We wanted to still provide the same response times, and then we also looked at call volume and where the station would be best needed,” Blakely said.
