Man struck by car on Highway 99 in Phoenix dies
A man who reportedly walked into the path of an oncoming vehicle Wednesday evening on Highway 99 in Phoenix has died, Oregon State Police reported.
Oregon State Police, officers from Talent and Phoenix departments, Jackson County Sheriff's Office deputies, and emergency personnel responded to the accident at 6 p.m. following a report of a vehicle that had struck a pedestrian on the highway near milepost 11.
The investigation shows Bonnie Kundsen, 58, was driving her Honda Accord northbound on the highway when the man, identified as 57-year-old Mark Cooper, "walked in front of the vehicle and was struck," according to an OSP news release. Cooper's hometown was not known, police said. Cooper was not in a crosswalk and reportedly was wearing dark clothing when struck, OSP said.
Cooper was transported to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center, where he died.
