Merkley to hold 12 town halls in January

U.S. Sen. Jeff Merkley will hold 12 town hall meetings during a four-day blitz from Jan. 2-5, across a third of the state’s 36 counties, according to a news release.

The town halls will be held in Josephine, Jackson, Douglas, Coos, Curry, Klamath, Deschutes, Jefferson, Crook, Wheeler, Grant and Gilliam counties.

The Josephine county town hall will start at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, at the Rogue Community College gym, 3345 Redwood Highway, in Grants Pass. The Jackson County town hall will follow at noon that day in Southern Oregon University’s Rogue River Room, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland.

Merkley will update attendees on his work Washington D.C., followed by some time for questions. The press release said Merkley invites “suggestions about how to tackle the challenges facing Oregon and America.”

Since he joined the U.S. Senate in 2009, Merkley has held town hall meetings in each of Oregon’s counties annually, the release said.
