Mt. Ashland Ski Area closed due to water system issues
The Mt. Ashland Ski Area will be closed through at least the weekend because of a broken pipe that is affecting the facility's water system.
Due to the closure, the MidWinter Jam, Screamin' Lizard and Dummy Downhill events — held March 13, 14, and 15, respectively — will be canceled, according to a facility news release.
The ski area has hired a leak-detection company to identify the source of the problem. On Thursday, ski park personnel arrived to find there was no water pressure. During troubleshooting of the problem, they surmised there was "likely a broken underground pipe between the cistern and the lodge," the release said.
"The ski area cannot operate without sanitary facilities and therefore must remain closed until the water system issue is resolved," the release said.
