When was Howard Park annexed?
It’s been many years since Wes Howard died and left his property for a park for children. I’ve kind of lost track with what’s going on out there, though I remember the city of Medford plans to build a sports park. I thought the property wasn’t inside the city limits. Has that changed?

The Howard Memorial Sports Park, at Ross Lane and Rossanley Drive, was annexed into the city in September 2019.
Since then, the city has made progress moving forward with the project, hoping to open a $60 million sports complex with two indoor pools as early as spring 2023.
The city has received 15 proposals to design and engineer the project, a step that will likely cost around $3 million.
Once the design is completed, the city hopes that sometime in 2021 earth-moving equipment will prepare the site so that construction of the buildings could start in 2022.
The park is planned to have a 89,559-square-foot sports center building as well as a recreational pool and a competition pool.
