Second controlled burn above Ashland scheduled Thursday

Ashland Forest Resiliency will conduct another controlled burn near the Mt. Ashland Interstate 5 exit today, officials said.

The 10-acre burn will be overseen by a 15-person crew and held just west of the exit, expected to conclude around 11:30 a.m. The materials slated for burning include several light piles. There is no smoke impact to nearby trails or roads expected, though a smoke column could be visible from the nearby freeway stretch.

The burn comes a day after crews conducted a 56-acre controlled burn, also in the area.
