Talent couple give birth to first baby of 2021
The Rogue Valley’s first baby of 2021 was born in Ashland.
Laurie and Tyler Davis of Talent welcomed their baby daughter to the world before dawn Friday morning at Asante Ashland Community Hospital, according to a release from the hospital.
Iris Ann Davis was born at 4:14 a.m. Friday, and is the couple’s first child, according to the hospital. The parents married a little more than a year ago and each have roots in Southern Oregon.
Laurie Davis grew up in the Sams Valley area and Tyler Davis grew up near Talent.
Their new daughter was born in a water birth attended by certified nurse-midwife Laura Letts with Asante Physician Partners in Ashland, according to the hospital. The newborn measures 20 inches long and weighs 8 pounds, 2 ounces.
Three other babies were born in Southern Oregon hospitals on New Year’s Day morning, according to Asante.
At Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford, a baby boy was born at 8:11 a.m. and a baby girl was born at 9:54 a.m. Friday, and at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center in Grants Pass, a baby boy was born at 8:07 a.m.
“Our congratulations to all the new parents and our wishes for a happy and healthy year ahead,” the hospital said.
