55 mph winds expected Thursday in Jackson County
Wind gusts in Jackson County could reach 55 mph Thursday, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a wind advisory for most of the day.
The advisory, which covers part of Jackson County, "including the cities of Medford and Ashland," will be in effect from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., according to a Weather Service bulletin. (Corrected online: see below)
The forecast calls for sustained wind speeds of 20 to 30 mph.
“Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects,” the bulletin said. “Tree limbs could be blown down, and a few power outages may result.”
Weather officials advised motorists to use extra caution while driving, especially anyone operating high-profile vehicles. Outdoor property should be secured.
Correction: The original version of this story incorrectly stated the advisory was for all of Jackson County.
