Dateline NBC to release podcast on Tucker Reed
Aisling Tucker Moore Reed, the Southern Oregon author and actress convicted of manslaughter in the 2016 fatal shooting of her uncle, will be the subject of a Dateline NBC podcast that debuts its first two episodes April 13, according to a news release.
The six-episode podcast “Killer Role,” hosted by Dateline's Keith Morrison, will focus on the fatal shooting and the independent horror film “From the Dark,” in which Reed played a killer while her real-life case was still open.
The movie’s filmmakers, from Grants Pass, did not know about Reed’s circumstances when she auditioned for the lead role after an open casting call on Facebook. Reed is credited in the film with the first name “Wyn.”
“When filming wraps, a real-life plot twist reveals Wyn’s real name is Tucker — and she has been charged in the killing of her uncle,” a news release about the podcast reads. “Both the filmmakers and the detectives find themselves wondering where the performance ends and reality begins."
Reed has also written books under the name “Tucker Reed.” She pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter in May 2020.
Subsequent series episodes will be released over the next three weeks, the release said.
