The intersection at Cedar Links Drive and Springbrook Road will be closed through September during construction of a roundabout and other transportation-related improvements.

The closure began Monday. Traffic will be detoured onto Hawaiian and Tahitian avenues, though residents within the construction footprint will still be able to come and go from their homes.

It’s the latest step in the Springbrook Road Improvement Project, a $3.3 million endeavor intended to improve passage to Kennedy Elementary School, Kennedy Park and North Medford High School, according to a news release.

Additional improvements will include northbound and southbound travel lanes, a center turn lane, bike lanes and street lighting.

“It’s a full on street improvement throughout Springbrook,” said city of Medford communications manager Kristina Johnsen.

Phase one of the project got underway in January. Springbrook Road was closed between Pheasant Lane and Cedar Links Drive, with traffic diverted to Crater Lake Avenue.
