Crews descend on 25 acre wildfire near White City
Oregon Department of Forestry and Jackson County Fire District 3 crews were working a fire in outside Eagle Point that as of late Saturday had grown to 25 acres.
The East Antelope Road fire in the 9600 block of East Antelope Road was burning on a slope that was difficult for firefighters to line.
As of 6:21 p.m. Saturday, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has issued Level 2 “Be Set” evacuation notices for residents in an area southeast of Highway 140, according to a Jackson County Emergency Management Facebook post
East Antelope Road is closed at milepost 13, according to a release from Jackson County Roads. The agency requests that motorists avoid the area in order to allow emergency responders to access the area.
A team of Jackson County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies, Oregon State Police troopers issued the evacuation notices to residents south of the roadblock at 8465 E. Antelope Road, Eagle Point, according to a JCSO release. Another 14 Search and Rescue volunteers are assisting police with road blocks and evacuation notices.
Resources battling the fire included one fire crew, multiple engines, a bulldozer and a heavy duty Type 1 helicopter, according to an ODF Southwest Oregon District Facebook post as of 4:27 p.m. The agency says overnight resources are on order.
