Cutoff fire held in check
BONANZA — Firefighters began mop-up operations and strengthened control lines Monday night as the Cutoff fire experienced no new growth.
Several helicopters dropped water on the southern portion of the fire to combat winds and dry fuel conditions.
According to the Oregon Department of Forestry, firefighters continued to monitor for thunderstorms that were forecast to develop. The passing storms threatened to bring rain and hail as well as gusty and erratic winds.
The current red flag warning expires at midnight Wednesday.
