Campfires banned at several Jackson County parks

A campfire ban went into place Wednesday at several Jackson County parks due to extreme fire danger.

Campfires are not allowed at Emigrant Lake, Willow Lake Campground, Rogue Elk Campground, Cantrall Buckley Campground and the Southern Oregon RV Park.

Campfires are also banned at Howard Prairie Campgrounds & Resort, including at the Apserkaha, Klum Landing, Grizzly Creek, Lily Glen, Sugar Pine and Willow Point sites.

On Wednesday, the Oregon Department of Forestry moved the fire danger level to extreme in Jackson and Josephine counties.
