COVID-19 cases down from last week, OHA report says

OHA reported 6,643 new cases of COVID-19 from Monday, Nov. 1, through Sunday, Nov. 7. That number is a 16% decrease from the previous week and the fewest since the last week of July

Even as Jackson and Josephine County continue to see COVID-19 outbreaks, the Oregon Health Authority’s weekly report showed a decrease in daily cases last week.

OHA reported 6,643 new cases of COVID-19 from Monday, Nov. 1, through Sunday, Nov. 7. That number is a 16% decrease from the previous week and the fewest since the last week of July.

The OHA weekly report keeps track of the number of COVID-19 cases in senior living communities, workplaces, child care facilities and K-12 schools.

From that extensive list, The Mail Tribune pulled the number of active or recent cases in those places within Jackson and Josephine counties.

There were no active COVID-19 outbreaks at care facilities, senior living communities and congregate living settings in Josephine County last week, but Jackson County saw some: Avamere Health Services of Rogue Valley (19 cases, zero deaths), Avamere at Three Fountains (62 cases, two deaths), Farmington Square - Medford (five cases, zero deaths), Prestige Senior Living Arbor Place (two cases, one death), The Springs at Anna Maria (four cases, zero deaths)

There were no active workplace outbreaks in Jackson County. But for Josephine County, the following outbreaks occurred in these places: Timber Products Co. (31 cases), Jim Sigel Automotive (six cases) and Roe Motors (six cases).

The following child care centers in Jackson County saw outbreaks: Head Start Progress Early Learning (two cases) and Head Start Merriman Center (two cases). In Josephine County, only one child care center saw an outbreak: Illinois Valley Head Start (five cases).
