Five finalists, plucked by a search committee, will come to town next week

Five finalists for the job of Rogue Community College president will participate in town hall meetings next week.

The school utilized a search committee, which considered a pool of 35 applicants. That group was narrowed down to 13 semi-finalists before the committee settled on five candidates: Michael Holtzclaw, Kristen Jones, Tammy Robinson, Michelle Schutt and Randy Weber.

One of them will succeed RCC President Cathy Kemper-Pelle, who announced last year her intention to retire.

All candidate forums will be held at the following locations and times: Table Rock Campus in the Health Professions Center (C Building), Room 150, 7800 Pacific Ave., White City, from 9:45 to 11:15 a.m., and Redwood Campus in the Rogue Auditorium, 3345 Redwood Highway, Grants Pass, from 3:45 to 5:15 p.m.

Michael Holtzclaw

Holtzclaw is the vice president of instruction at College of San Mateo in California. His town hall appearances are scheduled for March 7.

Tammy Robinson

Robinson serves as the vice president of instruction at Cañada College in Redwood City, California. Her town hall appearances are scheduled for March 8.

Michelle Schutt

Schutt serves as vice president of community and learner services at the HSI designated College of Southern Idaho. Her town hall appearances are scheduled for March 9.

Kristen Jones

Jones most recently served as the first provost of Bellevue College in Bellevue, Washington. Her town hall appearances are scheduled for March 10.

Randy Weber

Weber is the executive vice president/chief student success and strategy officer at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas. His town hall appearances are scheduled for March 11.

According to the RCC webpage about the president search, the school’s board of education could select its choice for president by March 24. If the candidate accepts, contract negotiations would continue until the end of the month before RCC announces the new president April 4. That person would take the reins this summer.
