Jackson County reports 59 new COVID-19 cases

Jackson County reported 59 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday and no new COVID-19-related deaths.

Josephine County reported 26 cases and no deaths.

Statewide, the Oregon Health Authority reported 696 new cases Wednesday and four more COVID-19-related deaths.

The number of COVID-19 hospital patients in the state continues to drop, falling to 424 Wednesday, down from 460 Tuesday.

Rogue Valley hospitals were caring for 49 patients with the virus Wednesday, down from 53 Tuesday, according to hospitalization data.

On Tuesday, OHA reported 26 COVID-19-related deaths around the state, including eight among Jackson County residents. OHA didn’t provide information on when the people died.

OHA released information Wednesday that showed the eight Jackson County residents passed away on Jan. 31 and Feb. 7, 8, 11, 25, 26 and 27 at Medford hospitals and at their homes. Two people died Feb. 25. The four men and four women ranged in age from 61 to 94.
