Jackson County reports 55 weekend COVID-19 cases

The Oregon Health Authority reported 55 new COVID-19 cases for Jackson County Friday through Sunday, and six more COVID-19-related deaths among county residents.

A 74-year-old Jackson County man died on Dec. 19, 2020 at an Arizona hospital; a 48-year-old man died Jan. 9 at a location that was still being confirmed by OHA; a 75-year-old man died Jan. 31 at a location that is still being confirmed by OHA; a 60-year-old woman died Feb. 10 at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford; a 91-year-old man died Feb. 22 at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center and an 89-year-old man died March 2 at Providence Medford Medical Center, OHA reported.

All had underlying health conditions, OHA said.

OHA reported 34 new COVID-19 cases in Josephine County and no deaths for the three-day period.

Statewide, OHA reported 1,116 new COVID-19 cases Friday through Sunday and 35 more COVID-19-related deaths.

The number of Oregon hospital patients with the virus fell from 375 Friday to 304 Monday, according to OHA data.

The number of COVID-19 patients in Jackson and Josephine county hospitals dropped from 48 Friday to 40 Monday, according to state hospitalization data.
