Golden to hold town hall meeting Tuesday

Mail Tribune/file photo State Sen. Jeff Golden will hold an in-person and online town hall meeting Tuesday night.

Oregon State Sen. Jeff Golden will hold a hybrid town hall meeting with both in-person and online options from 7-8:15 p.m. Tuesday in the Adams Conference Room of the Medford library, 205 S. Central Ave.

The meeting includes a briefing on the Oregon Legislature’s busy short session that ended in March, Golden’s views on the biggest issues facing the state going forward, and issues residents bring up during a question-and-answer portion of the meeting.

The town hall meeting will try out a hybrid approach that lets participants attend either in person at the library or via the free videoconference service Zoom. To watch via Zoom, visit us02web.zoom.us/j/88972360149?pwd=L2VZQi84Vk1hTG5mOUZHVDBEY3gvUT09.

Zoom attendees are invited to check in by 6:55 p.m.

“We’re hoping this is a useful choice for Rogue Valley folks,” Golden said. “Some, including my staff and me, have missed the old-fashioned connection that only in-person meetings offer. But the good attendance at our online town halls of the past two years tells me that others appreciate Zoom’s ability to take them all kinds of places without leaving home, so I’m sure we’ll be seeing some of them on the screen. This is one of the ways we’re in a new world now, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it works.”

Golden, a Democrat, is running for re-election for District 3 in the Oregon Senate. The area includes Medford, Phoenix, Talent, Ashland, Jacksonville and the rest of the Applegate Valley and the Greensprings area.
