Forums planned on manufactured home aid

Andy Atkinson/Mail Tribune State funding is available to help fire survivors afford manufactured homes and make them more energy efficient and fire resilient.

State Rep. Pam Marsh, D-Ashland, will host two online forums about aid available to help people afford manufactured homes and make them more energy efficient and fire resilient.

An English-language forum is from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday. To register via the free videoconference service Zoom, visit bit.ly/3N8YSa6.

A Spanish-language forum is from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday. To register, visit bit.ly/3iJlPTg.

The forums come as many of the manufactured home parks burned by the 2020 Almeda fire rebuild in Talent and Phoenix.

“Local organizations that are aiding the recovery process expressed the need for clear, consolidated information for survivors to learn about the opportunities and resources available to them,” said Marsh, who represents southern Jackson County. “And because many of our fire survivors speak Spanish as their primary language, my office has teamed up with Unete Center for Immigrant and Farmworker Advocacy to host one of the two forums entirely in Spanish.”

The forums include information on Oregon’s newly revamped housing replacement assistance through Oregon Housing and Community Services and ACCESS; energy-efficiency programs available from Energy Trust of Oregon and the Oregon Department of Energy; and a fire-hardening incentive offered by Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services. Fire hardening is a term for increasing the fire resilience of a structure.

Presenters from each agency will share information about requirements for eligibility, the application process, timelines, cost commitments and contact information. There will be opportunities for attendees to ask questions.
