COVID-19 cases remain low in Jackson County

Jackson County reported 86 new COVID-19 cases for the past week, a relatively low number that changed little from the previous week’s count of 87.

The Oregon Health Authority reported seven more deaths of Jackson County residents for the week of April 8-14.

New COVID-19 cases also remained relatively low in Josephine County, although the 41 new cases for the past week were up from 16 cases the previous week.

OHA reported four additional deaths among Josephine County residents for the past week.

Not all deaths reported by OHA are recent. There can be a lag time of months as state epidemiologists review death records and the cause of death.

The number of Rogue Valley hospital patients with the COVID-19 virus stood at 13 Monday and dipped to nine Friday, according to state hospitalization data.

Across Oregon, 100 hospital patients had the virus Monday, and 97 had the virus Friday.

For the week of April 8-14, OHA reported 2,949 new COVID-19 cases statewide and 147 more deaths.
