D&S Harley-Davidson Breaks Ground In Phoenix

The Almeda fire destroyed businesses and homes last September, but now it is time to rebuild.

"We just want to thank everyone for coming out here today," said D&S Harley-Davidson co-owner Kim O'Toole. "This is a really heart-wrenching but good thing for us. We've been through a lot and it is so good seeing everyone out here supporting us."

D&S Harley-Davidson in Phoenix was one of the businesses that burned down, but family and friends were there to help pick up the pieces.

"Steve Monroe is a family friend who came out of retirement to do all of the excavation work for us," said O'Toole.

Outlier Construction will build the new business at the original location in Phoenix. D&S Harley-Davidson is sure to be in good hands with a Harley lover and customer heading the project.

"I myself today road in on a Harley," said Al Cenna, the project superintendent for Outlier Construction. "Last summer I road across the country and right before I did I stopped in at D&S. My good friend Elias took care of my bike. Oddly enough halfway across the country, he called me to make sure it was running good. That is the type of service you can expect."

Cenna finished his remarks in front of Friday's crowd by saying, "it won't be long until you will be walking in the front doors of this place."

The ceremony ended with the first shovels of dirt officially being taken, starting the project on the new building.
