With a holiday weekend just around the corner, more families are getting ready to hit the road. AAA anticipates a 60% increase in Memorial Day weekend traffic from last year.

Oregon Department of Transportation spokesman Gary Leaming says drivers should plan ahead if they plan on hitting the road and encourages them to leave early and drive the speed limit.

Interstate-5 south of Ashland will go down to a single lane this weekend and wildfire zones in Central Oregon, the Upmqua Valley and Willamette Valley will have reduced speed zones.

Local law enforcement will also be out as this weekend looking for drunk and drug driving along the I-5 and Redwood Highway.
