Ghostlight Playhouse Hosts Stream-a-thon On Saturday

The Ghostlight Playhouse in Medford is in the middle of fundraising efforts to complete the transformation of a former bar into the new home of the Randall Theatre Company.

“The pandemic forced us to innovate, but we are taking advantage of all of that innovation and figuring out new ways to entertain people,” said Randal Theatre Company executive director John Wing.

Doors were closed during the pandemic, but Ghostlight Playhouse found a new way to entertain the public. By streaming the shows online.

"We have our own streaming platform through ghostlightplayhouse.com/watch. It will be free this weekend, but after that it will be subscription only," said Wing.

It is free this weekend for a 24-hour stream-a-thon, with the goal of raising money towards the grand opening.

"It's hard enough to schedule an hour and a half of entertainment, but we decided to go for 24 because we wanted a big spectacle,“ siad Wing. ”We are just about ready to open what used to be Howies on the Front, and we are just a few thousand short. We have a goal of $20,000."

The goal of the stream-a-thon is to get the new restaurant and playhouse fully operational, but even then, shows will continue to also be streamed online.

"The schedule is up at ghostlightplayhouse.com, and that is also a place you can go to check our silent auction items available, and the raffle items available. When Howies left they left a bunch of neon signs that would look great on anyone's den wall."
