Ashland celebrates SOU softball Champions
Fans, family and friends gathered Wednesday at Lithia Park to celebrate the SOU softball team after winning the national title in Georgia.
Head Coach Jessica Pistole gave an emotional speech about the hard work and dedication her team put forth this year.
“This last week at the world series was so freaking hard, and the places we had to pull from was absolutely that foundation of family that’s been built,” says Pistole.
With this years season uncertain and the 2020 campaign canceled, the team members banded together to form a bond that took them through to the championship. The women battled it out on the field in five elimination games to win the national title.
“I love every single one of these girls and to end my career the way we did — I’m on top of the world and I love them so much,” says pitcher Gabby Sandoval.
