Salvage Yard Sees Second Fire in a Month
A fire broke out at North Valley Scrap and Salvage for the second time in a little over a month. Medford Fire Chief Eric Thompson says an old abandoned Airstream trailer and two adjacent cars were destroyed in the event.
Although one witness claims there’s been an ongoing homeless problem, primarily camping inside abandoned RVs and stealing old car parts for money, the actual cause of the fire is under investigation.
With the salvage yard full of old scrapped vehicles, Chief Thompson said the fire was a significant threat to becoming way more dangerous considering the fuels present. But the crew was able to extinguish the fire quickly.
