Mount McLoughlin Trail

A flyover created in Google Earth of the route recommended by the Forest Service for ascending and descending Mount McLoughlin in Southern Oregon. The track displayed in this movie was created from GPS data taken by the Medford Mail Tribune newspaper on an expedition that was guided by a Forest Service Wilderness Ranger. Differences in the track's ascent and descent are due to the limitations in the accuracy of the Mail Tribune's GPS. The Forest Service advises all hikers to go down the mountain on the same path they came up on. They also advise hikers to stay close to the ridge line, when ascending and descending above the tree line.
