Three arrested following Thursday night car heist
Three people are in jail on robbery and assault charges after they allegedly stole a car from a Central Point resident and struck him in the face with a handgun Thursday night.
James Grayson Ward and Trevor Lee Ettinger, both 35, and 26-year-old Desiree Lynn Conley faces charges of first- and second-degree robbery, criminal conspiracy, second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and unlawful use of a vehicle, according to jail records.
Conley was held on $340,000 bail, Ward was held on $347,500 bail and Ettinger’s bail was $382,500.
The robbery was reported at 8:27 p.m. on Honeytree Lane in Central Point. The suspects allegedly arrived on scene with the intent of stealing a vehicle.
“Basically the suspects demanded the vehicle from the property owner there,” said Jackson County sheriff’s Deputy Noah Strohmeyer.
Details of what ensued are scant, but a confrontation occurred, the male victim was struck in the face with a gun, and the suspects fled in the stolen vehicle, police said. The victim was not hospitalized.
Police located Ward and Ettinger 15 minutes after the report at a grocery store parking lot in Medford and recovered the vehicle.
Officers tracked Conley to a motel in the 600 block of North Riverside Avenue at 12:30 a.m. Friday.
Ward, who did not have an address listed in court records, has one open felony case in Jackson County involving charges of methamphetamine possession and eluding a police officer. Ettinger, who has a Grants Pass address, has an open first-degree theft case. Conley, whose last listed address is in Eagle Point, does not have a felony criminal history, records show.
