Eddie Money's Life and Times
Eddie Money was not only a rock n roller at the top of the charts in the 70s and 80s, he was a master showman who connected with people. Ask anyone who came into contact with him during his rise and fall and rise again in music, and the same story keeps coming back: a very real and very nice guy.
Eddie's life started in Brooklyn and his parents raised him on Long Island. He was all set to become a cop, just like his brother, father, and grandfather before him. And though he made it into the NYPD, he quit while still a trainee, opting to take his music to the west coast where he'd soon write his first hit singles. When MTV came on the scene Eddie's swagger and confidence played perfectly to the video music that was becoming all the rage and Eddie found himself as one of rock's royalty.
A drug overdose almost cost him his life but he made it back later in the 80s with more hits and learned how to stay in the public eye to a new generation as our story reveals.
Edward Joseph Mahoney was born March 21, 1949, and died from complications of a recent heart valve surgery September 13, 2019. He was 70 years old when he left for paradise.
Season 2 of REAL MONEY on AXS channel will run all 5 episodes and a tribute on the channel is planned for Sunday night, September 15.
