This Day In Music: September 23rd

On this day in music, Bruce "The Boss" Springsteen turns 70. He shares his birthday with the likes of the late musical legends John Coltrane and Ray Charles.

Corey Taylor had to dispel a rumor 15 years ago that he was dead. A shock jock in Iowa reported the lead singer of Slipknot and Stone Sour died of a drug overdose in 2004. The news quickly transformed into a fatal car accident as the cause of death. Taylor spoke out and let everyone know he was alive and well, but apparently Google had 2004 listed as the year of the rocker's death until a fan noticed and tweeted it out in 2017.

Bob Marley performed his last concert in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on September 23, 1980. He collapsed two days prior while jogging in New York City, but decided to perform against his doctor's wishes. Marley collapsed on stage and died soon after of cancer in May of 1981.

On this day in music, September 23, Bruce Springsteen was born, Corey Taylor proved he wasn't dead, and Bob Marley took to the stage one last time.
