OREGON OUTDOORS VIDEO: Grove of Titans
On this week's Oregon Outdoors, the Mail Tribune's Mark Freeman is in northern California walking amongst some of the largest Redwoods in existence. The Grove of Titans has been a destination for big tree lovers for years, but this popularity has come at a cost. The forest duff and shallow root systems of these Redwoods have been trampled on while making makeshift trails and has put these trees at risk. A $3.5 million project is underway to construct an elevated walkway through the Grove with the aim of preventing damage to the forest duff and root systems.
