This Day In Music: January 11th

On this day in music in 1967, Jimi Hendrix recorded "Purple Haze” at De Lane Lea Studios in London. We move to 1971. Mary J Blige was born in The Bronx. In 1992 would mark the day Nirvana’s “Nevermind” would push Michael Jackson’s “Dangerous” from the number 1 spot. The same evening Nirvana takes the stage on Saturday Night Live. The band was set to play their fan-favorite “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and “Pissing Territories” from their new album “Nevermind” when things went a little off-script.
