This Day In Music: March 9th

On This Day in Music in 1959, Frankie Avalon’s “Venus” climbs to #1. Moving up to 1985, REO Speedwagon’s “I Can’t Fight This Feeling” becomes the band’s second #1 record. In 1992, “Should I Stay Or Should I Go” tops the UK charts. Later, Rolling Stone names the tune one of the “500 Greatest Songs of All Time.” It’s tough to look back on this day in 2007, when Boston lead singer Brad Delp commits suicide by lighting two charcoal grills inside his enclosed master bathroom, which causes death by carbon monoxide poisoning. When Delp’s body is discovered, he is found lying on a pillow on his bathroom floor with a note paper-clipped to his shirt. The note reads, “Mr. Brad Delp. I am a lonely soul.” Just a few of the notes from March 9th, and This Day In Music.
