Recent pastel paintings by Lyle Matoush will be displayed through Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Rogue Gallery & Art Center, 40 S. Bartlett St., Medford.
Matoush is a master printer and an emeritus professor of art at Southern Oregon University. Though printmaking was his chosen medium, the physical aspects of the process became too rigorous for him to continue. Matoush discovered pastels in 1996, a medium that allows him to explore his fascination of color and reflected light.
His new collection of pastel paintings range in style from abstract to landscape and demonstrate the play of light and shadow on various subjects.
