Third Friday art walk in Medford

The art walk, now coordinated by the Arts Council of Southern Oregon, My Daughter's Closet and the Heart of Medford Association, will continue to feature works by local artists with food and live music from 5 to 8 p.m. the third Friday of every month in downtown Medford.

In response to popular demand, Art du Jour Gallery continues to display February's Chinese New Year exhibit, featuring works by gallery members Ruthanne Bray, Millie Clarke, Margo Garnett, Kim Faucher, Judy Hubler, Ruth Heath, Dixie Kinser, Yvonne Kitchen, Susie Lee, Ginny Matheson, Margery Mercer, Marjett Schille, Carol Eaton Preston, Dick Woods, Ruth Hickok Schubert and Carol Sharp.

The gallery also showcases individual exhibits by each gallery member, including portraits of children by Hubler, "plein air" paintings by Preston and Southwest landscapes by Kinser.

A reception will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 18, at the gallery, 213 E. Main St. For more information, call 541-770-3190 or see www.artdujourgallery.com.

The Rogue Valley Biennial, a juried exhibit featuring contemporary artworks by 37 artists, will be displayed through Thursday, March 31, at the Rogue Gallery & Art Center, 40 S. Bartlett St. The multimedia show is patterned after the long-standing Venice Biennial in Italy and the prestigious Whitney Biennial in New York City, showcasing innovative "art of our time." Works featured in the exhibit range from printmaking and photo illustrations to sculptures and paintings.

There will be an oil-painting demonstration by classically trained artist Sarah Burns from 5 to 7 p.m. at Rogue Gallery. For more information, see www.roguegallery.org or call 541-772-8118.

Nearly two dozen works not selected for the show will be on display at the "Salon des Refusés," not in Paris, but at Organic Natural Cafe, 226 E. Main St.

The Downtown Throwdown will take a winter hiatus from its monthly food offerings but will start again in summer. However, several downtown merchants will continue to provide tastings of food and wine.
