Goodies and gifts in downtown Medford
Peruse artworks, shop handcrafted gifts and enjoy a mug of hot apple cider from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, in downtown Medford. Although the December and January Third Friday art walks are canceled, Art du Jour Gallery will host its "Cider, Cinnamon and Snickerdoodles" reception, and Rogue Gallery & Art Center will be open, offering a large selection of gift items by local artists.
Members of Art du Jour highlight local landmarks in the gallery's November-December exhibit, "All About Medford." The gallery also will showcase works by three new gallery artists, Medford artist Marilyn Zupan, Eagle Point artist Georganna Happel and Jacksonville artist Cammy Davis. Zupan depicts English cottages and countrysides in her watercolor paintings. Happel paints still lifes and florals, also in watercolor, and Davis specializes in abstract, geometric designs that have a 3-D effect.
Friday's reception will include cider, holiday treats and live Christmas music by keyboardist Patricia Ajhar. Call 541-770-3190 or see www.artdujourgallery.com.
Rogue Gallery will continue to display its annual members' exhibit, titled "Smaller Than a Breadbox." As its name suggests, the show features food-related works, smaller than a breadbox or no larger than 2 feet in any direction. The gallery's holiday art boutique, "Spirit in Hand," will be open until 8 p.m. Friday for all last-minute shoppers. Items include jewelry, dyed and woven scarves, dolls, ornaments, pottery, small artworks and much more. Prices range from $25 to $350, and proceeds benefit the artists. The boutique will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through Friday, Dec. 23, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17.
