Rain varied widely in Jackson County Tuesday
Rainfall varied drastically in Jackson County Tuesday, with just over 0.3 inch recorded in some areas over a 24-hour period, while nearly 1.25 inches fell elsewhere, according to the National Weather Service.
An area about five miles north-northwest of Gold Hill saw the most, with 1.23 inches recorded between 7 a.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. Wednesday.
An area about four miles south-southwest of Applegate was the only other place to crack an inch of rainfall, with 1.14 inches recorded. An area just south of Shady Cove saw 0.98 inch, while multiple sites in the Jacksonville, Eagle Point, Ruch and Rogue River areas saw between a half inch and 0.9 inch. Medford recorded 0.45 inch, while Phoenix saw 0.35 inch.
Squaw Peak on the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest saw wind gusts as high as 57 mph. On the Rogue Valley floor, the wind reached 37 mph along the Interstate 5 viaduct in Medford, meteorologist Ryan Sandler said.
