Yvonne Dunn and Gary Rigotti were married Nov. 3 on the beach on the island of Vatulele, the most southern island of the Fijian Islands. The wedding was performed under the traditional rituals of the islands of Fiji. The bride was escorted to her groom by warriors via a flower-laden canoe. The bride wore Vera Wang, the groom wore Italian linen; both were barefoot. The ceremony was performed by a Fijian minister on the beach with native choir, flower girls, local attendees and friends from around the world.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Philes of Eugene. A 1970 graduate of Pleasant Hill High School, she attended Portland State from 1971-1972 and graduated from Seattle Community College in 1978 with a degree in real estate. She is a real estate broker and owns Premier Properties Real Estate Brokerage and Property Management in Brookings.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Peter Rigotti of Portland. A 1958 graduate of Franklin High School in Portland, he is the principal owner of Ashland Sanitary and Recycling, Inc.
Matron of honor was Diane Ritchie of Australia. Best man was David Ritchie of Australia.
Native island girls served as flower girls.
Following the ceremony, the newlyweds held a reception on the beach. After the reception, the newlyweds retreated to The Point at Vatulele for a private Kava Ceremony with the native warriors, and then to a private outdoor gourmet dinner for two.
After a honeymoon in Vatulele, the newlyweds are living in Ashland and Brookings.
