Susan Stockman and Steven Schwartz were married on Sept. 24, 2011, in the couple's backyard in Medford. Federal Judge Mark D. Clarke officiated the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Richard and Doris Stockman of Central Point. She is a 1979 graduate of Estacada High School. She earned her bachelor's degree in business administration in 1984 from Southern Oregon University and her master's degree in secondary education in 1992 from SOU.

The groom is the son of Barry and Clara Schwartz of Fresno, Calif., and Betty Whaley of Lincoln City. He is a 1979 graduate from Sierra Joint Union High School in Tollhouse, Calif. He completed apprenticeship training in 1990 and works as a journeyman carpenter.

The couple dated in high school and rekindled their relationship 33 years later.

Maid of honor was the bride's best friend Cindy Coleman of Eugene. The bride's party included daughter Stephanie Cottle of Medford, son Shaun Cottle of Ashland, and daughter Sarah Cottle of Ashland.

Best man was the groom's brother, Robert Schwartz of Roy, Wash. The groom's party included daughter Kristen Schwartz of Corvallis, Caitlin Schwartz of Corvallis and Stephanie Auton of Fairbanks, Alaska.

Ring bearer was the bride's grandson, Laiton Pope of Medford, and candle lighters were friends Robert and Arisa of Medford.

A reception hosted by friends and family immediately followed the ceremony at the couple's home.

The newlyweds are planning a trip to Las Vegas and Hawaii within the next year and are living in Medford.
